People are not using “smart” ways to Job Hunt.

Almost all job seekers look for jobs in the wrong places and they give up too quickly. Capturing your application on the web on job boards does very little but feed the recruitment agencies databases. 

Giving your CV to the odd recruiter, not the RIGHT recruiter does very little if you don’t continuously follow up with that recruiter and even worse, don’t build up a relationship with that recruiter.

An applicant tracking system (ATS) is a software application that enables the electronic handling of recruitment and hiring needs. An ATS can be implemented or accessed online at enterprise or small business levels, depending on the needs of the organization; free and open-source ATS software is also available. An ATS is very similar to customer (CRM) systems, but are designed for recruitment tracking purposes. In many cases they filter applications automatically based on given criteria such as keywords, skills, former employers, years of experience and schools attended. This has caused many to adapt resume optimisation techniques similar to those used in search engine optimisation when creating and formatting their CV.

You don’t use your CV as Sales Pitch
Job hunters don’t treat their CV as a personal representation of who they are. Their CVs don’t fully reflect their skills, their attributes and most importantly don’t feature the particular skills described in the Job Post. This leaves recruitment managers with no clear view of who the person and thus, they move on to the rest of the 250 job CVs they received for the same position. 

When it comes to finding a job in 2021, successful candidates will have resumes that effectively showcase their value as employees. Unfortunately, many of today’s job seekers have no idea how to craft that type of resume that successfully sells you and accurately convey the value that you bring to the job market.

 

People use the wrong CV Formats

A lot of job applicants think that if you make your CV very “pretty” that it will stand out from the rest. That could not be further from the truth. The only thing that matters is that the hiring manager can match the CV to the position as closely as possible. The ATS will match your CV to the Job Spec and only the Job Spec. Think about that for a second.

You have a poor or unacceptable Online Footprint

In today’s social media conscious society, most people overlook their LinkedIn Profiles, their Twitter Feeds, their Facebook updates and in today’s business environment, there is a significant focus on these social media platforms.

There are some essential rules that people don’t use as part of the Job hunt process.
